Buyers don't browse listings — they create a profile describing what they want, and the platform matches them with compatible homeowners.
Matching is free. Creating a profile, getting matched, and messaging cost nothing for either homeowners or buyers. If both sides decide to move forward and you choose to have the transaction facilitated by OpenKnocks, those brokerage services are provided by Stokely Marcus, a licensed California real estate brokerage (DRE #01874337), for a flat $6,000, paid out of escrow only when a sale closes. It's entirely optional — you're free to work with your own agent or attorney instead.
Matches are based on location, budget range, property type, timing, and flexibility preferences that both sides provide during onboarding. When your criteria align with someone on the other side, both of you will see a compatibility summary. Neither side can contact the other until both express mutual interest.
You can create a profile regardless, but we ask during onboarding whether you have an active listing or buyer representation agreement. If you do, you should ensure that using OpenKnocks doesn't conflict with your existing agreement. We recommend discussing it with your agent.
You can pause or delete your profile at any time. If you've already matched with someone and started a conversation, either side can stop at any point — nothing is binding until you enter the Transaction Phase and sign formal documents.
